Applause! Helena Bonham Carter has been given a CBE today!

It’s been a long time coming, but today was a “very, very special” day for The King’s Speech actress Helena Bonham Carter. The British actress has been honoured by CBE by our very own Queen! Swanky!

Talking of just how excited she is by the whole thing, Helena admitted that she was “thrilled, though not sure I deserve it.”

She went on, “I always thought my father deserved a medal for facing 25 years of chronic disability with quiet daily heroism so I am delighted to accept such a wonderful honour in his memory”. Sweet!

Although we also hope she knows it’s her own amazing contribution to British history that has won her this award – because let’s face it, no one else could have pulled off Harry Potter character Bellatrix Lestrange quite like she did, right?

The star received her award at her Maj’s home residence, Buckingham Palace, where she was officially given the honour (which in full is called a Commander of the British Empire award) and of course she was able to meet Queenie herself – in what was probably one of the poshest bashes imaginable…

Obviously hubby Tim Burton wsa by her side along with their two little kids Billy Ray and Nell. But despite witnessing their mum receive the CBE, Helena reckons her little four-year-old daughter still wouldn’t recognise how important this makes her.

She joked, “I am wondering does it mean I get to command, because at the moment it’s my four-year-old daughter who does the commanding in our household. Must inform her of the change in situation.”

Sorry if there is the wrong word, I just reposted from another blog. Thank you
